  I genuinely love this shop. Bruce is a great guy, if not old school, but as one of the longest standing comic stores in Wisconsin I think he’s earned it. His method of organization may be peculiar, but there is some genuine gold throughout the collection and this shop is very much worth the time spent digging through back issues. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’re always more than happy to order it in for you and his prices are very fair.   It's been a year since I bought a nice book. I moved farther away from Madison and haven't been there for awhile. I bought some really nice stuff in the past from here and happened to be in the neighborhood. I was aware of the owner's reputation of being condescending but he's been mostly nice to me in the past. I was going to buy something at the shop today, but I got tired of the little jabs he kept throwing while talking to me.   I travel a lot and have been to hundreds of comic book stores across the country. This was one of the oddest experiences I've ever had trying to buy a book. The owner knows comics, they seem to have great stuff, and I'm ok with disorganized and even the 'look up the price' at the register (super lame, but not unprecedented), but the owner's condescending attitude was just too much.   When I was a kid in Madison years and years ago Bruce helped me collect a 60s Marvel series called Captain Savage and his Leatherneck Raiders. It had some tie ins with Sergeant Fury and his Howling Commandos. He was so helpful to me in finding every single back issue of a minor Marvel series. To this day I still remember seeing the expression of delight on his face when I walked in the store and he had somehow obtained the last issue which completed my set. Over the years I always went back to the store and I'm so happy it's still around.

  Went to this comic shop and comics are everywhere disorganized. I was going to buy some comics but the prices were crazy. They make you wait while they compare prices on eBay at check out and have you pay more than what it’s worth. I had them grab a box of comics so I could search through it and found the ones I wanted. When I went to check out and found out the price that’s when I rejected the comics.   Bruce is "nice and helpful?!?" I wish I could have been there when those reviewers were there!! I've visited the store a few times and found him to be very rude and condescending (believe me, I have other words in mind, too). I can't figure out where he gets his attitude; I've seen no evidence to suggest that he and the store are better than others. The other comic and regular book stores in town take MUCH better care of me.
